Welcome to the Encyclopaedia Aegyptiaca “whos who” and community portal. This page is basically a directory of where to go to get things done, and who to talk to if you run into any problems.

Finding The Information You Want
First of all, just try typing in what you are looking for in the Search Box on the sidebar at the left of the screen. “Go” will bring up any page with that exact name (or an auto redirect to the correct article if a common mis-spelling). “Search” works like a search engine query.
Failing that, try looking through the categories for the information you need, using the link here or from the main page. Categories are essentially a filing system for entries.
Getting Started With Editing
Before you dive in, please refer to the Style Manual for guidelines on how to word, reference and format articles for Encyclopaedia Aegyptiaca. If you are new to editing Wikis, you will almost certainly want to check out a Syntax Guide for how to use the Wiki markup language.
On your userpage (essentially your profile page on Encyclopaedia Aegyptiaca), you essentially have a blank wiki page to create your profile as you wish. You can also use your userspace to create sandboxes (draft/practice areas) for your entries, before copying them to the main space.
To create a sandbox, just put the following in the search box, and hit “Go”:
User:YourUserName/Sandbox
To create an additional sandbox page just put something else instead of “sandbox”, i.e. “sandbox1”, “draft” or “I_like_puppies”. There’s no restrictions within the bounds of common sense and decency.
This pages are separate from the main wiki, and fall within your “namespace”. However other people can still view, edit and comment on them, as each page will have it’s own talk page as well. As such don’t use them for anything private or sensitive.
Userpages
Userpages are your space to introduce yourself, and their talk pages are generally the first point of contact for people wishing to reach you. Your userpage is not protected from edits by others, but engaging in this is regarded as cyber-bullying and is not tolerated. Report any instances of abuse by contacting an Admin.
Editing / Blocking Disputes
First of all, contact the other party directly and try to resolve things between you. Please be mature and sensible. Please do not spread the dispute to other users or talk pages.
If the dispute is spread to other pages, or either party tries to drag other editors (besides an admin/helper) into the fray, then the party initiating efforts to spread the conflict will automatically be banned.
If you cannot resolve it yourselves, contact an administrator to arbitrate or judge. Thank you.
